Healthy Heart Tips and Other Randomness

Hi, y'all!
I haven't blogged about anything since Monday...I've been kind of moody and in a weird funk lately (anyone get like that sometimes?)...and thus not been very creative lately...I have been taking pictures of activities in my classroom though...that is whenever I remember to take a pic for my little 'ole blog.
Anyway...here are some things we have worked on this month of February...

Thanks to Brooke Perry we learned about keeping a healthy heart and had a blast doing so!
We also participated in her Valentine's Day Project...here are the cards we have received...we're going to keep them on our door for the remainder of the year...to remind us of our new friends!
My Firsties loved exchanging cards...what a fun way to learn about other places!

And finally...I had my annual observation...a few weeks ago...(hooray!). My lesson consisted of teaching inferencing to my darling kiddos...thanks to the amazing Abby I had the most amazing lesson and got exceeds on my evaluation! Can I hear a woop, woop?!!
This is the inferencing lesson I used it is fan.tas.tic....you can find it here.
The sad thing is that I only took this one picture...I know sad!

Well, that's all I have for today!
Happy Friday!

The Hunger Games

I just finished reading The Hunger Games.
Oh. my. word. Suzanne Collins is a master storyteller.
Her book is exhilirating, terrifying, thought provoking, vivid...and brilliantly imagined.
The plot is full of action and suspense...it is a well written adventure about the ultimate Reality TV game.
And Katniss Everdeen...is unforgettable.
I absolutely recommend reading this book...it will fascinate you.
I can't wait to begin Catching Fire...the 2nd book in the trilogy.

7 Facts...at Last!

Hi Bloggie, friends! I am enjoying a BEAUTIFUL day here in South Texas! My peach trees have beautiful blossoms...and life is just right at the moment .
Ok, so I was tagged in a "7 Facts" award that's going around. I was tagged by Sunny at  The Caffeinated Teacher.  Basically, in a nutshell, you provide 7 random facts about yourself and then tag 15 other bloggers to play along. It's always fun to learn
random things about other bloggers!
Thanks Sunny!
1. I have been, a Pre-K teacher, a Kinder teacher, and now I'm a 1st grade teacher...my favorite grade by far...wonder when I'll do 2nd?
2. I love tea...and Coke Zero...mmmm!
Especially when accompanied with popcorn...my favorite snack!
3. I LOVE movies...but hardly ever go to the theatre to watch them...unless it's a kids movie...and I take my littles. It's Redbox all the way for me!
4. One day I would like to be a consultant for early bilingual education....and have my speech pathology degree under my belt.
5. I adore the sea and the beach...but sadly I don't know how to swim.
6. I'm a scatter brain...and usually have multiple things to do at once...I really have to concentrate to finish things...I may have some sort of attention deficit disorder. At least that's what I tell myself when I'm rushing to get things done...trying not to miss a deadline! Ha!
7. I absolutely love shoes and bags...and would LOVE to own a Louis Vuitton bag and a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes...anyone out there want to buy me some...my birthday is just around the corner? Ha!
(Wishful thinking...on my part, huh?!)
So...who's next?
Check out these fabulous blogs that I'm constantly stalking:
Ladies, you're tagged!

Anchor Charts

I love anchor charts...they are evidence of classroom learning.
An anchor chart displayed in a classroom anchors students' learning while providing continued support to those who need it.
We have a variety of anchor charts in our classroom...
these are just a few...
I usually make an anchor chart for our reading skills...this week it was cause and effect.
This anchor chart is for story structure...which is our skill next week.
I was greatly inspired by Ms. Simoneaux at First Grade Fresh...I HAD to make this comparing and contrasting anchor chart...too cute! And the kids really grasped the concept! Thanks for the inspiration Ms. Simoneaux!
The following are anchor charts I found on the web...(not my creations).

These are some anchor charts found on Debbie Diller's website.
Do you use anchor charts?
If you do...what do you think of their value in the classroom?

So today I decided to have some me time and went shopping by myself in the morning...I hardly ever do this...
but it was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
When I got home, hubby said I had received a package in the mail.
