Math Work Stations

When I first started teaching I read Debbie Diller's Literacy Work Stations...as a matter of fact I still read it when I find myself needing a refresher course on literacy centers. I liked her book so much that I created my literacy centers based on her work...I am so excited that she has now come up with a Math Work Stations...you can now preview the entire book on Stenhouse Publisher's website...here. I can't wait to read the book in it's entirety. I'm sure it's awesome!

I just got my Professor copy last week. It is so nice to see that someone is doing the same things that we are. I am just upset I didn't write it first! Most of us have been already doing this stuff for years. It is great affirmation that we are indeed doing our jobs!!!!

I'm going to see her at the end of the month in Nashville. She's doing an all day session on math stations and a second all day session on providing rigor and relevance in lit. stations. I can't wait and hope to blog about it after I get back.

I LOVE Debbie Diller!! I modeled my workstation from her book and I was so excited when I saw she's written one for math workstations. I told our math coach that she NEEDS to get this book!! If she does I am going to borrow it, even if I am a literacy coach!

Too Funny. I came across a blog titled coffeyhouse and commented about Debbie Diller this morning. Big Fan...

I facilitate PD meetings in my classroom and often asked where I get the Literacy program. Lit or Math she is amazing.

I previous mentioned that I have been using Debbie Diller products for years. Really Good Stuff sales her management pocket chart kit and task cards.

What I love about the kit: a)It provides large sign images that match the pocket chart card images. Kids can easily identify where to go in the classroom. b) It provides a green and blue card for 15 minute rotations. This provides easy visual of what the kids should do 1st. c) It provides English on one side and Spanish on the other side for my ELL students. d) The pocket chart is two sided allowing me to use the same chart for Math Centers, YEAH!! d) It truly allows for independence.

I purchased the task cards separate. The task cards come with rings and a variety of activities for students to work on (differentiation). The task cards match the center/pocket chart icons. They come in English on one side and Spanish on the other side. The task cards will come with two versions for each center. One set will be for your emergent students and the other set will be for your advanced students. All cards have words and pictures to truly provide independence at centers.

Can you tell that I love Debbie Diller? I have looped with my students for several years. I purchased the 1st grade chart and it will work wonderfully with K-2.
